Openhouse Phonics Classes for Kids
At Openhouse, they approach phonics with a tinge of creativity. The aim is to make your child not just a confident speaker and an intelligent writer but also an impactful performer and a creative thinker. They approach phonics and the knowledge of reading, writing and speaking English to help your child develop and hone their visualisation skills, their own imagination to combine and create words as well as the techniques to be better communicators and performers.
Beginner level (Months 1 – 6)
Letter Recognition & Sounds · Beginning & Ending Sounds · Making 3 Letter Words · Speech & Communication
On completion of Level 1, students will be able to recognise letters, sounds and start forming their own three-letter words in writing and speech. They will also have a basic understanding of reading, writing and speaking all 26 alphabets.
Intermediate Level (Months 6 – 12)
Rhyming · Middle Sounds · Speech Delivery · Blending Words
On completion of Level 2, students will be able to identify and speak rhyming words, as well as more complicated words using blending sounds. By this stage, you can expect the student to be able to combine five and six letter words to speak confidently, as well as create correlations by using rhyme and visualisation.
Advanced Level (Months 12+)
Long Vowels · Combination Sounds · Combining Words · Reading & Writing
On completion of Level 3, students will start to show fluency in speech, delivery and writing. They will be able to form and read complex words, use combination techniques as well as read and write eloquently.
By the end of three months, students will also begin to participate in showcases and performances.
Certification: Certificates are awarded to all students who successfully complete two showcases within 6 months with above 85% attendance for their regular classes and then move on to the next level.
