Openhouse Karate Classes for Kids
At Openhouse, they believe in the philosophy that Karate is a way of life. Students grow through performing repetitive physical routines that are proven to increase confidence, coordination, goal setting, respect and courtesy while getting physically strong. The routines engage both parts of the brain that improve their performance in other aspects of their daily life.
Beginner level (Months 1 – 6)
Punches · Blocks · Stances · Kicks
On completion of Level 1, students will be equipped to take the formal Level 1 Karate belt exam of their choice. They will be equipped with the knowledge required to perform the various stances, punches and blocks as well as their combinations through Katas.
Intermediate Level (Months 6 – 12)
Kata 03 & Kata 04 · Sparring – Kumite – Beginner · Kata 05 & Kumite Beginner – Perfection · Kata 06 – Kumite Beginner – Jiyu Kumite
On completion of Level 2, students will be equipped to take the formal Level 2 Karate belt exam. They will be able to perform Kata’s with better understanding of the movements. They will have an understanding of the point system of Jiyu Kumite (friendly sparring).
Advanced Level (Months 12+)
Kata 07 & Kumite Intermediate · Kata 08 & Kumite Intermediate – Perfection · Kata Repetitions – Jiyu Kumite · Kata 09 & Kata 10 – Tournament Training
On completion of Level 3, students will be equipped to take the formal Level 3 Karate belt exam. They will be able to perform Kata’s with complete understanding of the movements. The students will be able to replicate tournament kumite routines and have a deep knowledge of Karate and its principles.
By the end of three months, students will also begin to participate in showcases and performances.
Certification: Certificates are awarded to all students who successfully complete two showcases within 6 months with above 85% attendance for their regular classes and then move on to the next level.
