Halloween is incomplete without some sweet treats and when they are scary but still utterly scrumptious, it’s even better! To start the celebrations, we have something that’s novel and will have the kids wanting for more – Witch Finger Cookies. Just follow the steps below and hocus pocus your way into a fun Halloween weekend.
Preparation steps to make Witch Finger Cookies
Step 1: Get all the ingredients required to make the cookies together. Once you have them organized, mix flour and baking powder and set aside.
Step 2: In a big bowl, cream butter and icing sugar with a beater until light and fluffy. Add in the egg, vanilla extract and beat again.
Step 3: Add the flour in 2 parts, mixing until incorporated. Watch out – do not over-mix!
Step 4: Now, using your hands, bring the dough together and very lightly knead it into a ball. Once done, cover with cling wrap and let it chill for 30 minutes.
Step 5: Once the 30 minutes are up, remove the dough from the refrigerator and divide it into 15 to 20 grams balls. Then, shape them into fingers, as shown in the picture. The almonds are the finger nails!
Step 6: Preheat the oven at 160 degrees Celsius for at least 10 minutes. Place your cookies on a tray and bake the fingers for around 30 minutes or until they start turning golden brown on the edges. Once done, remove from the oven.
Step 7: Heat the jam for a few seconds until it becomes a little thin and add red food color to intensify the color.
Step 8: Remove the almond and spoon in some jam, then place back the almond and brush some jam on the edges to make it appear like blood.
Step 9: Abracadabra – your super creepy (and delicious) Witch Finger Cookies are ready!
So go on, and get baking this Halloween. Whip up these treats with your kids and let the Halloween at home celebrations begin!
