Smoothies are so trending right now…and it helps that they’re delicious as well! But when you have a recipe that is both healthy and yummy, you know you have a winner. Read on to get the full recipe to a lovely healthy smoothie that you can enjoy with your kids at home.
Anyone else’s kids love smoothies?!
With summers coming up, smoothies are a delicious way to get in some well-needed nutrition, especially for the kids. The best part with smoothies is that the possibilities are endless. Not to mention, that they’re super easy and quick to put together, which is always a plus when you have a busy family lifestyle.
Smoothies are also a great low stress cooking opportunity that you can enjoy with your little ones! In my case, usually when we bake or cook together, I prepare the recipe in advance and collect and pre-measure the ingredients as it helps the process go much smoother. Smoothies are the easiest and quickest to make with whatever is there at home, so not much preparation needed:)
There are many ways you can enjoy a smoothie! You can drink it or make a delicious smoothie bowl out of it! Either way, smoothies are very simple to make and there’s (almost) nothing that a bit of milk can’t fix, so, we are happy to make them on the fly together!
Now, coming to the recipe. This healthy smoothie is great for breakfast and we also love to have them as an after-play snack! This one is a quick and easy, 5-minute super berry smoothie bowl that is loaded with berries, nuts and seeds. It’s so simple that kids can make it all by themselves too (my son, Vivaan made this all by himself)! Vivaan, who’s 13 is not a big fan of Bananas, so this bowl made by him is without frozen bananas.
Here’s the recipe for the healthy smoothie
1 cup Almond Milk
1/2 cup Frozen Mixed Berries
1 spoon Almond butter / Peanut butter
1 tsp Flax seeds
1 tsp Chia seeds
You need to basically combine the smoothie ingredients into a blender and pour out into a bowl.
The toppings is where it get really FUN! Think Strawberry, Banana, Granola, Grapes, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, Blackberries and more. You can also add any other toppings, like shredded coconut or nuts. The toppings add more nutrients and protein to your bowl and turns it into a complete meal. Plus, they make it pretty too.
So, if you’re looking for healthy-delicious hack, smoothies are the way to go. The whole family can enjoy this and you can make your own version using Oats, Spinach, Strawberries, Blueberries, Avocado, Mango, Banana, Almond Butter, Flax Seeds, Chia Seeds and water. It’s energy packed and can contain milk or you can even opt for a dairy-free version, like this one. It’s the ideal morning / afternoon recharge.
Go on and give it a try!
