Parents constantly worry about whether their kids are getting enough nutrition every day, especially if they are picky eaters. Here are some delicious smoothie recipes that are packed with fruits and vegetables, to help your kids get their daily dose of goodness.

Do you worry about whether your kids are eating well, getting the required nutrients and growing to their full potential? Smoothies are a great way to put your worries to rest. Pack them with fruits, vegetables, oats and more, and your kids will have loads of energy to see them through the day. They’re perfect for breakfast or a snack too!

When my son Vivaan was a toddler he could drink a whole smoothie. If you’re starting your child on smoothies try reducing the portion to half and slowly work your way up.

1. Berry Blast Smoothie

Here’s a great way to get your toddler involved in cooking. Get them to choose their favourite berry or just use a mix of berries for a blast of antioxidants!

This simple and tasty smoothie is great for your little tots. Blueberries help with brain function making this a great treat for little learners.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 cup mixed berries

Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Almond, rice and coconut milk work well with these recipes

2. Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie

Kids love the combination of strawberries and bananas, and when you add spinach to the mix you get a delicious green smoothie with kid friendly nutritional perks like healthy bone growth!

My son is intrigued by how green he can make his smoothie (we call it the green hulk buster :)), so lots of greens for him.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Spinach
  • ½ cup frozen Strawberries
  • 1 Banana (slice and freeze overnight if you have time)
  • 1 cup Almond milk

Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Optional additions for all your smoothies

Add any of these ingredients to make your smoothie extra special:

  • Pea Protein powder supplement
  • 1 tbsp golden Flax meal
  • 1 tbsp Chia seeds
  • ½ cup mixed nuts and seeds
  • 1 tbsp Raw Cacao powder / nibs
  • Agave Nectar or Medjool Dates as per taste

Tip – Oh La La!: Leftover smoothies make AMAZING popsicles. Simply pour the leftover smoothie into a popsicle mould and then freeze until firm. It’s a great way to get even more nutrition in your child’s day!

As far as nutrition goes, both smoothies offer a bundle of antioxidants from Vitamin C-rich strawberries to Potassium-loaded bananas and Anthrocyanin-packed blueberries. And don’t forget all the Vitamin K and Iron in the spinach.

These smoothies for kids are great for all ages. Try them out soon:)
