We are almost half way through summer and I hope it has been jam-packed with exciting and creative activities. Your kids must be pumped to go back to new classes and lessons. To boost the excitement, here’s a great way to make boring school supplies fun and attractive! This DIY pencil holder will help your child’s stationery stand out from the rest!
Step by step instructions to make your pencil holder
Gather some clay (natural or white colour), pencils, paints, glitter/ plain washi tape, sponge daubers, scissors, paint brushes and glitter powder. Now mould a chunk of clay into a dome shape as shown.
Now using the back end of a pencil, poke multiple holes into the clay to make pockets for holding pencils.
Let the dome holder dry. Paint it white for the base coat.
Once the base coat dries, paint the holder with colours of your choice. You can add glitter or doodle on them with a marker and make it as fun as you want. Once it dries, your pencil holder is ready to use!
Now let’s decorate the pencils! You will need some dark as well as light coloured paints and pieces of sponge.
Using a sponge, dab a darker shade paint on the pencil for the base coat and let it dry.
Create fun patterns with lighter shades of paint or use glitter or printed washi tapes to decorate further.
A funky pencil holder and some fancy pencils are now ready so your kids can flaunt them at home or school!
Happy back-to-school to you all.
