How important is reading for children? The benefits cannot be stressed enough! It helps build creative skills, speaking skills and writing skills. Books open doors – to imagination. It helps broaden & shape their young minds. It also instils confidence. The British Council ‘Global Reading Challenge’ will help enable your kid with all of this and more!
What is the ‘Global Reading Challenge’?
A unique literary adventure for kids, the Global Reading Challenge is brought to you by British Council – in association with the Reading Agency, UK. This year, the challenge is celebrating ‘50 years of humans landing on the moon’ and in honour of that, the theme of the challenge is ‘Space Chase’. The aim of the challenge is to encourage & motivate children to read for pleasure. However, the results are multi-fold. The challenge will also help improve their English, develop their reading skills and build their confidence. To make it unique & fun, the Council has introduced the ‘Rocket Family’, a super space bunch who will help guide the children through all the steps.
“This is the second year that my son is participating in the Reading Challenge. Nowadays children are so addicted to television and video games that they hardly read any books in their spare time. In such a scenario, British Council’s effort is really praise worthy. These fun filled activities have brought children closer to the wonderful world of story books. I personally thank and congratulate British Council for their effort” – Pashmina Lakhanpal, parent of a 7 year old
