Try your hand at these easy-to-make, colourful, handmade rakhis. You only need a few simple supplies to help your child put one together.

Step by step instructions:

1. Draw an outline of the shape your child fancies in 3 different sizes on 3 different coloured foam sheets.

2. Cut each shape out.

3. Glue each shape on top of each other – bigger to smaller.

4. Once your shapes have dried glue on a few decorative beads to give a little personal touch to it.

5. Finally glue on the satin ribbon.

1. Draw a car shape and cut it out.

2. Cut small car windows from a different coloured foam sheet.

3. Glue the black buttons on as wheels along with the coloured windows.

4. Glue on the shine buttons on top of the black buttons.

5. Draw an outline of the car and the windows with a gel pen. Finally glue on the ribbon.
